Why are prices in fruitfromspain.com so cheap, sometimes even cheaper than at the producer itself?
1. We search for the produce in several sources all over Spain and if necessary in other countries too
2. We have an extensive network of suppliers and contacts in different points of the supply chain, thereby being able to detect price movements in advance, and also buy opportunities.
3. We are independent of any producer or other supplier. Opposite to other business models like Export Departments from cooperatives, our customer is the international company, so we are not obliged to buy or source from a certain producer or supplier. We buy where we get the best deal for our customer.
4. We usually purchase cash in advance, getting hefty discounts as the seller reduces its risks, has to pay no credit or export insurance, and gets immediate indirect financing.
5. Often, producers send to wholesale markets in Spain excess production that they couldn’t send for export, requiring a much lower Price for their produce. They usually send to the biggest wholesale markets where they probably will “get rid” of that extra produce, and buying in wholesale markets and particularly in Mercamadrid, one of the biggest in Europe, is one of our team´s specialties.
6. As with many other sectors in Internet, purchasing through fruitfromspain.com you sideline middlemen, mainly European distributors out of the producing country Spain.
7. Being able to buy cheap for all these reasons does not mean lower quality: all produce that we source for our customers is fresh and adheres to the quality, packaging and size of your precise specifications.

Why should I purchase from fruitfromspain.com when I am a satisfied customer of Spanish produce bought from my local or European provider, for instance in The Netherlands?
For the following reasons:
-Freshness: thanks to fruitfromspain.com you sideline middlemen in your home country or in others such as The Netherlands, therefore receiving the product much faster from the producing area. It is not warehoused and then reshipped.
We do not offer what we have on stock, we act on your specific demand and ship your goods adapted to your requirements.
-Autonomy: you decide what transportation means you use, either ship, train or truck, and if you wish to organize it yourself or us.
-Price: Cutting on middlemen reduces prices, sourcing directly from the producing country too.
-Flexibility: We can handle short or long-term commitments, and small or big-ticket deliveries. We can handle daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, yearly, but also one-off or peak-demand needs.

What is the minimum order?
There are no minimum orders but due to transportation costs we suggest a minimum of 4 pallets to certain destinations, or a full truck, or container which can carry up to 24 pallets. That is, transportation cost for a full truck or container staying constant, the fewer the pallets ordered and transported in that truck or container, proportionately the more expensive it will be to transport them.
For certain destinations like the UK and The Netherlands there is daily regular transportation between Spain and those two countries, so your produce can be grouped with others for a minimum of four pallets and the transport company would only charge for the pallets effectively transported.
Fruitfromspain.com does not sell transportation, so we are very glad if you prefer to organize transportation from Spain to your premises yourself.

What are typical transportation costs to different destinations?
Prices vary depending on demand and season, and final destination inside a country. For instance, it does not cost the same to ship to the South of the UK than to Northern Ireland. Nevertheless, these are some approx. prices for a full truck (up to a maximum of 24 pallets and 20.000 Kilos):
-UK: London 2800€
-France: Perpignan 900€, Paris 2400€
-Germany: Berlin 2800€
-The Netherlands: Rotterdam 2600€

What does FCA mean?
Contracts involving international transportation often contain abbreviated trade terms that describe matters such as the time and place of delivery and payment, when the risk of loss shifts from the seller to the buyer, and who pays the costs of freight and insurance.
The most commonly known trade terms are Incoterms, which are published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). These are often identical in form to domestic terms, such as the American Uniform Commercial Code, but have different meanings. As a result, parties to a contract must expressly indicate the governing law of their terms.
FCA is a trade term requiring the seller to deliver goods to a named airport, terminal, or other place where the carrier operates. Costs for transportation and risk of loss transfer to the buyer after delivery to the carrier.
When used in trade terms, the word "free" means the seller has an obligation to deliver goods to a named place for transfer to a carrier.
FruitFromSpain.com usually works on FCA terms Madrid.

May I order different goods in the same shipment, and how many may I order?
You can order as many as you wish. In fact, we have customers who order on a daily basis to several destination points or premises. For instance the first 8 pallets to this supermarket, the next 10 to the next supermarket, and the last 4 to the third. And the truck driver delivers them one by one.
The only VERY IMPORTANT requisite is to load in the same truck or container produce which will ripe at the same rate, will not ripen the produce besides, and which can travel at the same temperature. We will advise you on this point.

What is the delivery term between ordering to fruitfromspain.com and receiving the goods?
It will mainly depend of the point of delivery; how far away it is from Spain, and what type of transportation do you prefer to use. Once we receive your order, and unless we previously inform you that prices are very disadvantageous and that we should wait to buy, or transportation is to a far-flung destination and therefore complicated to organize, we process orders usually on the next working day or on a maximum of two working days after receiving your Purchase Order and down payment.
Thereafter you have to add the time of transportation; by truck approx. 3 days for the UK, 4 to Germany, 5 to Denmark, or 7 to Norway. By ship, increase those figures between 50 and 100%, but rates are much lower and depending of the type of produce, it is a very interesting alternative.

Am I obliged to order only "export grade" or first category produce or can I order a slightly lower category or quality produce with a better value for money?
You can order whatever you choose, just let us know your specifications. To avoid misunderstandings we will send you pictures of the product before purchasing it. Cheaper does not mean worse. For instance, bent marrows or courgettes of the same size and quality are usually cheaper than the straight ones. Depending on your customers, some or most will be happy to get a 20 or 30% discount on the same product assuming it is bent. This is a chance for you to increase your margins or win market share without reducing substantially your customer’ perceived value.
What are "first class bis" products?
These standard category is for products that are not exactly first class, but which are far away from being second class. For instance, vine tomato which instead of being 6 per vine, is the same tomato, but 4 per vine. As explained in a previous question, there is often an interesting price reduction with no quality difference.
How do Moon phases affect fruit and vegetables?
As well as the moon affects tides in the Oceans, it affects produce too accelerating or slowing down its ripening.
With a full moon, ripening accelerates, irrespective of it being in the branch, tree, or even being in a box ready to be shipped or sold. The only way to reduce the process is storing it in a freezer or cold storage area.
The opposite happens with a new moon.
