Select fruit based on:
–Touch (press it gently and it should give slightly)
–Color (bright or dark colors mean more nutrients)
–Smell (sweet fragrance)
When buying fresh fruit, keep in mind:
-Buy only what you will use in a short amount of time to prevent fruit from going bad
-Look for freshness and ripeness signs
-Avoid bruised, soft, and damaged fruits
When preparing fruit:
-Wash fruits under cool running water to remove soil, sand, or pesticide residue that may be on fruit
-Use a sharp, thin-bladed knife when peeling
-Peel as thin as possible to keep nutrients found right under the skin
